WASHINGTON — The Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said Sunday that any attempt at comprehensive immigration legislation cannot offer a "special pathway to citizenship" for those in the United States illegally. That approach could block the GOP's hopes of ever winning the White House, the top Democrat in the House predicted.

Pelosi and Reid are excellent examples of why we need term limits.

How thoughtful of Nancy to worry about Republicans winning a presidential race. If only they had listened to her in 2012 all those Hispanics would not have voted for Mr. Obama.

How you treat your fellow Americans is how they will vote. The Republicans were all for immigration reform before they were against it this Spring and Summer. I thought they were the fiscal party! How do they plan on paying for the 20,000 additional border patrol, 700-mile fence (which those living along that fence were not taken into account) and the drones for surveillance? That should be spelled out in the Immigration law. How about we build a fence around the shores of all oceans surrounding the US. Make it at least 20 feet tall with barbed wire right in front of their ocean front homes and resorts. You have to show your legal status to get through the gate to the beach. Then employ 150,000 more border patrol to man the fence surrounding the US. Oh, I forgot! We need to fence off Canada, also. That way we can be surrounded in isolation. I wonder how that will affect trade with Canada (our number one trading partner?) The quotes we set up for legal immigration is discriminatory, also. Will they make the quotas equal? What a joke! Let's vacation next to the border fence, kids!

No citizenship. No 'born here' to illegal immigrant citizenship, Work permits- but leave the family at home. 15 million illiterate, nearly all low skilled NEW citizens? Are they truly mad?

Who said Republicans are not in favor of Immigration reform? The problem is your definition of Reform means giving citizenship to the 11+ million illegals. Thats NOT Reform! Immigration reform is securing our borders, enforcing e-verify, deporting illegals, limiting the number of people immigration into our country, controlling and tracking those with green cards. stopping entitlement payments to illegals, stopping health care services to illegals unless its a life or death emergency

If the republicans had their way, the only people classified as citizens would be multi-millions and the banksters. The republicans are bought, paid for and owned by these corrupt individuals.

I would think Nancy would relish the position ofthe GOP not to pass the bill if it guarantees the DFL the whitehouse in 2016. I'm glad that she is so concerned. But everybody knows that the only concern for her and all the DFL is losing out on all the votes and being able to make the government to have more dependents. That's all she's concerned about.

The funny thing is, it will take a couple of years before these NEW voters figure out that the Democrats have held them back, rather than help them.

I know the Libs or Democrats won't admit it, but they need a constant influx of new voters. After all, once the underclass folks get to the "middle class" they realize they have been taken advantage of by the Democrats.
