The DNR should consider a bounty. This will only get worse.

We used to take our carp to a meat processor and have them smoked for 5 cents a pound. The excess fish got cleaned and frozen, to be thawed and smoked at a later time.

I went out on my first bowfishing trip with Derek Sanderson of scales-n-tales bow fishing guides and he was quite shocked to find out that I was going to cook the carp. Although carp are extremely boney, when cared for and cooked correctly they are delicious. I did a write up for Simple, Good and tasty about cooking them and made a carp ceviche and buttermilk fried carp.

Couple of things come to mind. 1) I live on a lake and it sucks having the UFO boat pull up at 1am with the bright lights. Some etiquette would be appreciated. 2) I do hope the people that are out doing this are really keeping the fish for eating, smoking, or fertilizer. There has been an uptick in the number of bloated stinky carp on my lake. Coincidence? I think not.
