(Myers quotes): "Quality teachers are a necessity," said Myers. "A lot of people think that if you throw an iPad in the classroom, it’s going to be transformative." and then: "Teachers said that learning to use iPads took a lot of time, Myers said, with one stating that it was like being a first-year teacher all over again." ---- As for Myers first assertion, if he attached a few grand in automatic salary increases to those iPads, the teachers would scarf them up. As for the second comment, iPads are no more complicated than Etch-A-Sketch's. Start paying that teacher the first year teacher's salary for saying what he/she said. The devices are so simple to use and why is that? Because smart people made them that way. If an engineer said that he/she felt ignorant/incapable with regard to the development/use of a new product, the person would be recommended an easier job (ie let go). But, engineers don't get the lifelong job insurance called tenure so they cannot appear overwhelmed whenever something new that incites fear is introduced into their environment. Follow along: MOV EAX, NewlyEducatedTeacher; CMP EAX, TenuredTeacher; CALL Retirement; POP TenuredTeacher (from the stack). Seriously, it is just that easy.

So that's why my property taxes aren't going down...to give school kids an electronic device that I could only dream of purchasing.

Last year the seniors in our school received IPADS at the beginning of the year. By Christmas the administration was threatening to take them all away because too many students were playing games on them in class instead of using them for their intended purposes. Gee...I didn't see THAT one coming!
