Everybody passed on two other Minnesotans: Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams of the Gophers.

Neither Wolters nor Muscala were recruited by the Gophers. Iverson was run out of the program by Smith, and fortunately Larry Eustachy rescued him. By the way, remember when Eustachy brought a Utah State into the barn and destroyed the Gophers? I know you don't. I was there. Eustachy, who had a scandal at Iowa State (drinking beer with coeds--not a felony I hope), lost his wife, but has taken four schools to the NCAA tournament: 1. Utah State, 2. Iowa State, 3. Southern Mississippi, and 4. Colorado State with Colton Iverson. None of those schools are renowned for b-ball excellence. Yes, I would have loved Eustachy for the Gopher job, but I have (so far) no complaints about Richard Pitino II. Over and out.

Good for Wolters and Iverson. Rodney Williams never tried hard enough to be NBA. Nobody in their right mind ever even gave him a chance. He wasn't even a good college player.

Who took Iverson?

Of course, Mkwabe and especially, Williams, were not taken in the draft so they will have to try to make a club as "walk-on's." Did anyone seriously expect that either of them would be taken in the draft? Now, tell me again why so many silly fans thought that the 2012-13 Gophers were Tubby Smith's most talented team at Minnesota? They were so talented that they finished near the bottom of the conference which was consistent with their level of "talent."

Wolters would have been first team all BIG under Dutcher or Clem... Tubby didn't even give him a wiff! What a poser Tubby!

Mbakwe likely did not get drafted because of his knee injury and legal issues and a less than average jump shot. You can ask lottery pick Cody Zeller if Mbakwe can play. He will play in the NBA despite the draft. Williams has to hope some knowledgeable coach in the D-League or on foreign soil will figure out his jump shot deficiencies.

The only NBA Mbakwe will be playing is on video.

Yes, Mkwabe played well against Zeller here at the Barn. On the other hand, Zeller played more consistently better throughout the season while Mkwabe often disappeared, perhaps, off looking for Williams. Zeller was a consistently good player over the course of the season while Mkwabe was not, hence, Zeller got drafted and Mkwabe did not.

And the tradition of excellence in revenue sports at the University of Minnesota continues.
