Am I crazy, but hasn't everyone over the age of 60 used a racial slur at some point in their lives? Why is everyone dropping Paula like a hot potato?

They should also fire, drop, and disavow every single rapper\entertainer who has ever uttered this purportedly aweful language. It is hypocritical, as well as racist for you to suggest that it is totally ok for one group of people to utter this.... but not another group of people. The hypersensitivity really seems pretty rediculous; everyone is the recipient of some form of unappreciated taunt from time to time. Are you going to fire everyone whos called someone fat, at some point in there lives? Hypersensitive or not... the unfair and unequal application of punishment is just plain wrong. And you don't correct wrongs, with more wrongs!

Not everyone has sponsors. Not everyone gave weak apologies. Not everyone claimed it only happened the one time.

It's not that she SAID it, of course everyone has (and will) say things that they wish they hadn't said. I think/feel (and only my take) that she isn't really sorry for it, and that the intent/meaning behind the word is justified - and in some of the cases she mentioned it was (hey, if i'm getting robbed I'm using every word in the human language). It would be great to know how she really FEELS - focus on attitude not behavior.

When you dream about having an all black wait staff at an event because it looks good, I think there is a problem.

She admitted to saying something 30 years ago. Good lord America, calm down.

I find the hatred for Ms Deen absolutely pathetic and self righteous. I will now be boycotting Target and not shopping there again. On my way to their website just to let them know. I'll also be talking to my friends and family via Facebook to have them get on board. Enough is enough. Time to boycott all the businesses that have dropped her.

I don't feel sorry for her, she's made millions and the ride is over. That's the way business works. You screw up once, and if it's a big enough screw up regardless of intent, you get steamrolled. Period.

Interesting how she gets fired for something that happened 30 years ago. That is an absolutely frightening concept.

At the 2006 Academy Awards, Best Original Song winner was "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp". Catchy tune and great beat but it also contains the same racial slur that Paula Deen is being pilloried for. Rap singers make millions churning out songs with the same word. To quote Ebenezer Scrooge "I think I'll retire to Bedlam".
