It's not about gay marriage. It's about thumbing the conservatives.

No. I attended the Gay Pride parade in San Francisco in 2004, the year that same-sex marriage was legal for a while in California. The most striking aspect of the parade was the hundreds of couples that marched together with two signs. One was a sign that stated their names and the amount of time they had been together (e.g., "John and Mark, together 28 years, married for four months"). The other was a blown up copy of their marriage license. I never saw a happier group of people in my life. This is what it is "about," granting normal people a right to live a normal life, without surrendering to ancient prejudices.

Personally, I don't care. But I did want the issue resolved one way or the other permanently for two reasons. First, so all the legal aspects of estates, taxes, etc. would be made easier for everyone involved, including the government. Second, so the issue would/could/should go away now for awhile. If the couples are not content in a state without gay rights, they will have to move I guess or fight that state legislature. Good luck with that in some states.

"I look forward to the day when no one cares"" @ @ @ Well, that'll NEVER happen because the Strib (And all other local "news" sources) will never let this go - every day, multiple "stories" will continue, cramming it down everyones throat, attempting to normalize it. Gay agay gay gay gay everything, 24/7 - it wont stop, they wont let us forget that got this passed.

supervon2: "It's not about gay marriage. It's about thumbing the conservatives"...I supported same-sex marriage, and am offended by this comment. It's NOT about the "thumbing" anyone. It's about securing equal rights for everyone.

I like this parade better than the ones we often see during Pride Week. They could use a little more decorum.

supervon - This cartoon is about the happiness of the people in those cars, NOT your moaning and gnashing teeth.

Thank you Mr. Sack! This is a wonderful cartoon! This year's Twin Cities' Gay Pride Festival and Parade will be joyous! The local LGBT community has had a wonderful year! Let the celebration begin!
