Mississippi among quickly rising Midwestern rivers that leave towns awash with flood concerns

ST. LOUIS — Midwestern rivers, including the Mississippi, are rising again after yet another round of heavy rain, forcing some flood-weary towns to prepare for their third significant flood since April.

Grafton, Illinois NOT being eligible for federal flood money is one of the very few things the feds have gotten right in the last 40 years. The town is practically in the Mississippi- they need to either move or build permanent dikes good for at least 10 feet above the highest flood ever. As far as the rest of the flooding, corn and drain tile are a perfect recipe for disaster. Bill G.
