Reid pressures House to pass farm bill after chamber rejected half-trillion dollar legislation

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says his chamber won't pass an extension of farm policy this year and is pressuring the House to figure out how to pass a farm bill.

How about no food stamps, no crop subsidies, and farmers pay the full cost of crop insurance instead of the taxpayer covering 2/3 of the cost.

Government schemes that target larger farms with greater insurance benefits steal from smaller farms a fair and equal opportunity to compete. Time to limit size of government farm insurance policies.
