As much as I like Backstrom, Bernier would be a perfect fit...assuming he doesn't cost too much. Darcy and, say, Fontaine, would be grand. But if they have to trade someone like Zucker or Coyle, no way. This team needs scoring more than it needs goaltending.

I can't friggen believe it. First Hackett and now Kuemper? Throw in a left wing and next year's 1st round draft choice, too?

Couple of thoughts: 1) Of course anyone within the Kings organization is going to state they feel Bernier "has the ability to be a #1 goalie" to anyone outside of the organization. Duh. 2) Take out his GAA and save percentage against the Wild (1.14 and .953), and it would seem his numbers are not quite as impressive. Sure, if all goalies got to play against the offensively-challenged Wild, then their stats would be pretty impressive also. Ugh. I just hope Fletcher isn't stupid enough to base a trade based solely on that type of limited sampling.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HOCKEY GODS!!!! Let Fletcher make an INTELLIGENT decision this time and put the ol' aging workhorse to pasture and get a fresh young stud in the net!!!! Backstrom doesn't have the energy or the strength needed to go on like he used to. Several times last season, he practically had to use his stick as a cane getting up from the ice. Time to retire or be relegated to a back-up. This team needs an EXPERIENCED goaltender to take his place. Not some young "wet behind the ears" kid. TRADE FOR BERNIER!!

Trade Koivu!! He needs a change of scenery. He isn't what he used to be either.

Using prospects and NHL cap $ makes sense to trade for a #1 goalie. Leaves cap space to sign Cullen and goal scores. With buyouts coming and teams dumping salaries to beat the cap, opportunities will come up if you have cap space. Backstrom maybe a victim of very little cap space available for him.

Trade Parise too strib1991, he certainly demonstrated he didn't deserve his big salary with those playoff numbers. Also, he is not what he use to be. Mark Parrish contract #2. By the way, I know its from the insider so its got to be fresh, but my son told me the Wild were inquiring about Bernier this past Wed.

I'd love for us to get a long term goaltender, one less patch job holding the club together.
