SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Food Network said Friday it's dumping Paula Deen, barely an hour after the celebrity cook posted the first of two videotaped apologies online begging forgiveness from fans and critics troubled by her admission to having used racial slurs in the past.

Oh my goodness. What a shame for the Food Network Channel. In the 6os and in the South especially racial slurs were especially common. She admitted that she and her husband used the words to each other. More and more people learned not to as the 70's -90's came about. It is rediculous to lose her over this. Get over it Food Network Channel!

Let those who have not wronged cast the first stone. This is insane, she is one of my favorites on that channel. This is Politically Correct Gone Wild. I get offended often by some of the cable channels; get over it. When will the public rise and stand against this idiocy? Paula needs our support!

If you think this is the work of PC police, it's not really about what she'd said in the past, but about how she defends or rationalizes those remarks today.

The most important lesson that I've learned from this is that unless there is irrefutable proof to NEVER admit to anything.

You are free to speak what ever words you would like, but you are not free from the consequences of those words. Her employer, The Food Network, is much bigger than just one show. It cannot risk alienating viewers, or possibly more important, advertisers.

It's about time the Food Channel dumps her - anyone who pronounces the word "ham" as though it has 3 syllables should not be given the opportunity to be on television.

Paula Dean probably has way more money than she needs. If you grew up in the south, the slurs were prevalent and still are prevalent. She apologized but cut her loose if you need to set an example. Her followers will still follow her no matter what the consequences. I have friends who slip up once in a while. I don't like it and I remind them it is not cool. There are slurs against women all of the time. I don't see people getting fired over that slip!
