Great memories from these local legends. I'd also like to read a story about the advertising salespeople from local and national media companies with their expense accounts to entertain the agencies. I started calling on the local agencies with salespeople from Better Homes & Gardens in the early 70's and we picked up a lot of checks and bar bills at the restaurants and bars mentioned here.

When I got into the biz in the late 70s/ early 80s the 3 martini lunch was still in vogue. I went to a lunch one day with my mentor and couldn't believe how much these guys were drinking, creating stuff on cocktail napkins and still going back to work. I had to go home later and take a nap.

Was't the eighties actually the END of the 'advertising craze', finally, where business actually realized advertising was a good con or scam where the only 'winners' were the ad agencies producing non-profit producing ads? Its one of those suckers games, people like cupons not annoying adveftising that is in your face. That is why newspapers do so well. people can clip the cupons.

Pretty sure I read almost the exact same story during last year's season finale. You know we don't have to put a Minnesota spin on everything. I can't be the only lifelong resident that thinks we take it a bit too far? Diablo Cody lived here for like 5 months and we celebrated her like Mary Tyler Moore. Truly exhausting.
