Sell!! Easy decision.

You've got to be kidding. Does anyone really think the Twins are playoff bound this season? I'm hoping for a .500 season-now that would be progress. If they can move Morneau and Willingham for pitching prospects and a starter, they've got to go ahead.

Kyle Gibson is now 6-1 with a 2.36 ERA in his past NINE outings. In that time, he's thrown 61 innings, given up only 46 hits, and struck out 58. Before you make any decisions about being buyers or sellers, it's high time to bring up Gibson immediately and waive (or trade) Mike Pelfrey. Then, at least we can make an educated choice about whether this team is indeed in the race. But if it IS a playoff team, it can't keep rolling out a guy with a 6.11 ERA every fifth day. Bring up Gibson and move Logan Darnell to AAA. It's time.

"We got contributions from everybody, up and down the lineup, and that’s the key to having a winning baseball team,” its absolutely true. In 2009 Morneau got off to a hot start and the Twins were .500. Mauer came off the Dl and had a monster MVP year and the Twins were at .500. It wasn't until Punto, Casilla, Young and Cuddyer got hot and the pitchers kept them in games that the Twins went over .500. It is a team game and if guys like Dozier, Parmalee, Plouffe, etc can just hit .265 collectively the rest of the way and the pitchers throw like they have the last month the Twins can hang in there. Unfortunately I wouldn't bet on it. Sell or sign Morneau on the cheap and if he gets hot then sell. Sell Willingham if the offer is great. Don't sell for the sake of selling though. Playoff teams want help more than we should want to unload so trades need to bend in our favor.

The guiding light for trades should be to make this team good enough to win a World Series sometime during the next few years. Trading away a prospect for an outside shot at squeaking into the playoffs this year would be asinine.

Interesting fact: Had the Twins gone 5-5 during the 10-game losing streak, they'd now be 38-31 and ONE GAME out of first. I know, I know...ifs and buts and all that stuff. But the truth is that this team's playing a lot better, it's got a lot of pitching close, and Detroit just isn't a great baseball team; they have no defense, they have no pen, and they have zero team speed. So, why can't the Twins get in this race? If they go, say, 7-2 on this road trip, they'll almost certainly be in second place and only looking to get better. Why not? They have the best defense on the planet, statistically speaking. They CAN score runs when healthy. They have a good pen. Why not? With guys like Gibson, Meyer, May, and Darnell knocking on the door, why not?

Sorry, I meant 6-2 over the next eight against Cleveland, Miami, and KC.

I choose to believe this is rhetoric in order to play hard to get when gms come calling. Either that or my head will explode.

If you're a .500 club at the break, you're in the hunt the way playoffs are structured now.

Let's not get too excited here folks, they just beat up on Philly and the White Sox. White Sox are horrible right now. Let's see how they do against the East, then maybe we'll know how the Twins are really doing. Just sayin'.
