She’s rapping less, singing more and showing her vulnerability on the most ambitious album yet from the Doomtree crew.

Rap is awful, artless garbage. This woman Dessa is talented. I saw a concert of hers on PBS (I think it was on the show "MN Original") the other day. She has a great voice and should be singing, not "rapping".

I am 53 and definitely not a rap fan. I recognize that it's poetry, but I'm also not much of a poetry fan, and most of the rap I've heard has done nothing to change my tune. Much of it has to do with the way it's delivered. That said, I think Dessa is AMAZING. Whether she's rapping or singing, her lyrics are raw, personal, powerful and well-crafted. This woman is a super talent who deserves to go very far.

Well, we almost got through a week without having to read about Dessa. Maybe sometime in 2017 we'll get that luxury.

@xaulxan: Guess what? You didn't have to read about Dessa. You chose to. Perhaps you'd prefer to read about Kim Kardashian instead of a talented individual who deserves to become famous?
