Stillwater Lift Bridge fully operational

Vehicles are once again traveling across the Stillwater Lift Bridge, and boat traffic is able to pass under it after the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) on Wednesday afternoon completed repairs on a frayed cable on the 82-year-old span.

Let me tell you who is paying the bill-Sierra Club is the one that should be forking over the cash.

Actually, the Sierra Club did not oppose tearing down the old bridge and building a new one in its place, as allowed under the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Much better, though, to spend $700M on a new bridge almost no one in MN wants. Plus the maintenance and operating expenses on both bridges (old and new) will keep MNDOT happily employed indefinitely. That's a solution only our brilliant DC politicians could deliver.
