Senators discussing bipartisan proposal for student loans that could dodge rate hike

WASHINGTON — Students applying for financial aid for the coming school year could find some comfort in a bipartisan student loan compromise taking shape in the Senate that would prevent interest rates from doubling and set a single rate each year for undergraduate students, rich or poor.

Colleges are going to love this. It shifts the burden of insanely higher tuition rates created by them and their reckless spending and places it on the backs of taxpayers.

Yet, we are told education is the answer, without ever addressing the questions "for who? at what cost? in what field?"
