I don't think there are words to say how amazing the spirit of this young girl is, or the impact it must have on her father. While many are going to point out this was avoidable, hindsight is always 20/20. He will have a constant reminder of his role in the accident for the rest of his (or her) life. I applaud her courage, and hope her father can forgive himself, as the pictures show, she likely already has.

I can only imagine the horror the parents felt. It sounds like she was fenced in, but kids are so quick. Her dad will have a hard time living this down. Sad, prayers to the family.

Didn't think it was possible to be very happy and terribly sad at the same time. I felt that reading this story. God bless her as she moves on in life and becomes accustomed to her new limbs

I am a former Minnesotan living in Palm Harbor and this happened less than a mile from where I live. Firefighter friends were on that scene and it shook them up. I prayed for Ireland and her family...especially the father that he could forgive himself even though it was an accident. I cannot fathom what it was like being that man and it's good to see that he's in the fight with her.
