Heatley injury has Wild dealing with tight salary cap

When the Wild acquired Jason Pominville on April 3, the team seemed destined to use a compliance buyout this offseason on veteran Dany Heatley.

Resign Cullen no matter what. They were a different team without him. Tom Gilbert, I can't figure him out. When he came over the year before he was solid and I thought we suckered Edmonton. Last year though he struggled. I don't think I'm ready to cut the cord on Gilbert yet though, just hoping last year was an aberration. Don't care about Falk. His ceiling has been met and it's too low. Don't care about Konopka. Really would like Clutter to stay but he needs to give more than last year, same with Brodziak. Just like Gilbert, both of them were great the year before and were nowhere this year. Should be interesting though.

Fletch should be worried- especially about the head coach. He should get, at best, a 25 game window, this Fall. If they stink, he should go. Should have gone after the (no surprise) quick exit from the first round of playoffs. Just making the playoffs aint good enough, Fletch.

trade Mikko

Heatley is one of two snipers we have, Seto the other. At least in the past they have been. Cant give up on them. Yes to Cullen. I have lost my patience with Brodz and Konopka. unsure about Gilbert but maybe he goes, makes too much to be average.

Snipers? They don't have any...that's where they start and get a few/two maybe big forwards. They'll get "killed" in their new division next year. And Yeo? Should have been gone a month ago. Don't expect much out of him.

Sounds complicated. Reading between the lines it almost sounds like Wild will be on the 'bubble' to make the playoffs again next season ... or be a 'back in' on the last day of the season? ... provided they can find someone to replace Backstrom ... with little to no money to spend on a net minder. Guthrie season tickets seem like the best choice for next season.

This is where Fletcher is at his best and why he will not lose his job despite poor coaching decisions.Say good bye to Gilbert we have plenty of offensive defensemen. There will be trades and we will be better in goal then last year.Keep Setachucci and we will resign Cullen. We need big power forwards who can skate and play tough.GO FLETCH

If we can get ANYTHING for Kyle Brodziak in a trade, do it, run, and don't look back. I'd like Heatley to stick around if possible, but understand the cap is closing in fast. Hard to get rid of a true goal scorer on a team with almost none.

Brodziak, Clutterbuck and Konopka can go.

cabramsJun. 18, 13 9:10 AM

Heatley is slow as molasses but he'll stay in front of the net. We really don't have anyone to do that. Can his body take the punishment again? Seto was a nice surprise last year playing with Cullen. Brodziak -- trade. Clutter -- love him but his lack of scoring was appalling. Konopka -- trade him but you need another winning center. Wild simply can not drag out the same old tired team in 2013/14.
