Colvin Roy does not represent a southeast ward. Southeast refers to that part of Minneapolis east of the Mississippi River and south of E. Hennepin Avenue.

Another one bites the dust over the stadium issue. It's probably a done deal, but this election cycle will leave the memory of this fiasco deeply seated in the minds of the voters. I suspect that it will be a reminder when and if another stadium issue comes up in the future. Minneapolis was held hostage for personal financial gain. A very sad day.

"I look forward to not having my motives and intent attacked whenever I make a decision.” .... Sandy the reason your "attacked" is the majority of your "decisions" did not represent the citizens of Minneapolis. You are simply a city mole for developers, corporations and millionaires.

Maybe, just maybe......with all the empty city council seats.....at least one conservative person should be elected. Just to remind the progressives that that there IS another view on things. Currently we have a situation where the progressives all try to "out-progressive" each other.

After much thought, consideration and discussion...I have decided that the best thing... for the Ward is to step down,” Ya got that right!

Sandy Colvin Roy served the 12th Ward with courage, conviction and sincerity for many years. Her stadium vote was unpopular, but legally correct, and 20 years from now Minneapolis citizens will recognize that this was a good thing for the city. Couldn't the Strib have found a more flattering photo to depict this low-key, anything-but-flamboyant, but honest and sincere elected official?

johnmpls ... Dennis Schulstad/GOP held this seat before Sandy. He was much better than her, this coming from a lefty!

bellczar is correct. She represents a south mpls neighborhood, not a southeast neighborhood. Come on Star, get it right.

Despite being the Green Party opponent of CM Colvin Roy in this year's race, I have to agree with dtherkelsen. Why does the Strib opt for such incivility?

Losing Sandy Colvin Roy will be a loss for the city. She specialized in transportation, and complex issues relating to the environment. I have known Sandy for over 30 years. She is a thoughtful and approachable. I think we should appreciate people willing to give public service.
