Dear Amy: My girlfriend of 10 years is getting married. I’m the maid of honor in her wedding, but recent actions are hurtful and confusing.

As one who has had 4 respiratory arrests, at least 3 rare diseases and many other things wrong, I read this letter with interest. I too usually am the helper and not the to be helped. Your main goal is first to find out if your diagnosis is real and what is what. Then your worries are either gone or needed to be figured out. But in any case you need someone to listen to you. Over and over. Those friends and even family members can be hard to find! Sometimes their woes are so great they have a hard time listening. I hope that you will take time to write everything down off from your head on to paper. Just keep it going, as you think of it. Even write down how they aren't listening to you! And read but remember that they write down everything that has ever happened ever. Such as possible side effects. And good luck to you.
