Other North Stars teams had greater playoff success, but the 1983 version had their best regular season in Minnesota.

To this day, I believe this team would've gone to the Cup Finals had Sonmor "stayed healthy" all season and coached in the playoffs. This was an awesome team.

This was real hockey, back when teams could score. During this season, the North Stars gave up six goals or more 15 times and scored six goals or more 17 times. They actually had a two-game road trip to NY in which they gave up 16 goals. But it's a team that also scored 321 goals, or roughly a HUNDRED goals more than the Wild has scored in any of its past four seasons, even though the North Stars played two less games. I loved this style of hockey. You couldn't even take a concession break for fear of missing a goal. Now, well...you can see your beloved Wild get shutout in three of four straight games. Lovely stuff.

Looking back, it's hard to believe what happened to the North Stars organization. The joker ownership at the end--terrible.

I miss the North Stars. The wild can never replace them. It was better back then than it will ever be again.
