Divers begin Lake Michigan excavation in search of lost 17th century ship, the Griffin

ON LAKE MICHIGAN NEAR POVERTY ISLAND, Mich. — Divers began opening an underwater pit Saturday at a remote site in northern Lake Michigan that they say could be the resting place of the Griffin, a ship commanded by the 17th century French explorer La Salle.

Why is the depth of the site being kept secret? It would be an interesting and vital part of the story.

Crazed Minnesotans might rush to the site and get there before the scientists if more information is given. You don't have the brains to understand in other words!
