I look forward to receiving my card. I just hope I'm able to continue with my policy from Medica, with its $3200 deductible, when Obamacare kicks in.

I'm a bit skeptical about how well this will work out. The low redemption rates cited in the article, even among the target populations identified in the trial runs of these discount programs, suggests that rates will probably be even lower among the broader population, most of whom do not have the same incentives to use it (poor health or limited income). Many of the people who already have healthier eating habits also generally have higher incomes (not a coincidence), and probably won't respond to relatively marginal discounts on a few items. The 20-30 percent redemption rates claimed by the marketing firm involved in this effort sound particularly unrealistic.
