George Zimmerman deserves a fair trial

The trial of George Zimmerman, which opened with jury selection Monday, will address the legal charges against the former neighborhood watchman in the death of Trayvon Martin. But long after the jury reaches its verdict, what happened in Sanford, Fla., on the evening of Feb. 26, 2012, will continue to be litigated in living rooms, barrooms and Internet chat rooms.

Liberals had him convicted before he was arrested and still refuse to accept the facts that have been presented.

It is not against the law to follow anyone. It is not illegal to not follow a police dispatchers advice. Martin had no injuries - Zimmerman sustained many. Martin had a violent history. Zimmerman did not run after Martin as liberals claim. Zimmerman did not inflict his own injuries as liberals claim. Shooting someone while they are trying to kill you is called self defense. But, the deniers will let their emotions rule and dismiss the facts.

The LA Times is not in favor of a fair trial for George Zimmerman at all. Everyone except for the liberal media knows this guy is on trial because of the race of the guy who died. There is absolutely no evidence at all justifying charging Mr. Zimmerman with murder. The prosecutor is only bringing the murder charges in this case because they are afraid of black community backlash. Basically, charges were brought by the prosecutor not because of the evidence, but because black community leaders demanded it and threatened riots if they didn't get it. The reason the police didn't pursue a case after interviewing Zimmerman was because the little evidence that was available seemed to support his side of the story. When prosecutors were finally bullied into filing murder charges, they refused to bring the case to a grand jury for an indictment, because they know full well, that the evidence they had didn't support an indictment, and in fact supported Zimmerman. With no indictment, and no real evidence, any unbiased judge with any courage at all should have dismissed the case for lack of evidence that a crime was committed. But the judge was just as bullied by black leaders as the prosecutor was, so he refused to do the right thing and dismiss the case. ........... Meanwhile, the LA Times and other liberal media continue to show baby pictures of trayvon martin to try to develop bias against Zimmerman. ...... Yeah ... this is going to be a real fair trial.

I wish liberals were as concerned about the black on black crime as they were about this case of a man protecting himself from a thug.

Let's reviewn: Zimmerman suffered a broken nose, a bleeding head wound on the back of his head, and other injuries. Martin had none. Zimmerman was found by police with wet grass on his back, indicating he was on the ground on his back, validating his claim that Martin was on top of him, beating him. Forensics show the gun shot wound was at close range, and the angle will match the fact that Martin was on top of Zimmerman when he was shot. The evidence is overwhelming that this was a clear self-defense case, and that is why he was NOT charged initially. But once the race card was played, the politically correct prosecutor brought charges. Make no mistake, this is nothing but a political prosecution, and is outrageous. And enough with all the 'he followed Martin' nonsense. All that matters is whether or not Martin was on top of Zimmerman beating him and bashing his head on the sidewalk. If that is proven, Zimmerman will be rightly acquitted. This whole case is a farce and should never have been brought.

I love how the right defends a killer bay saying that the victim "had no injuries." I would call a fatal gunshot wound an serious injury that makes a bloody nose seem insignificant. If Zimmerman had been black and Martin were white, you all would be calling for Zimmerman to get the chair.

Why wouldn't Mattin's record be allowed? After all this shows he was a drug dealer and a loser. He had already been kicked out of school. He was on private property in a gated community sneaking around. In hindsight it appears Zimmerman's instincts were correct.

In our country it should be legal to pursue someone to the point of confrontation, and if you are getting the worst of that confrontation you should be legally allowed to pull out a gun and shoot the other person dead.

bigbadbean: "this case of a man protecting himself from a thug." Martin a thug. With his Skittles and iced tea? What a public menace! The thug was Zimmerman who stalked Martin against police orders and confronted him when he could have waited for the cops. Zimmerman is a coward who shot an unarmed teenager. It looks as if Martin was protecting himself from the armed thug before he was shot in cold blood.

borisbadenov Jun. 14, 13 6:27 PM - "Liberals had him convicted before he was arrested and still refuse to accept the facts that have been presented." Boris, are you clairvoyant? I don't think the jury has been impaneled, and yet you say the facts, or evidence, shows that Zimmerman is innocent. @Minn12, you like to state nothing but suppositions without ANY proof. Yes, Zimmerman has grass stains, a scratch on the back of his head, and a broken nose, but how did they get happen, who caused it, when did it happen. There are a multitude of questions that need to be answered and hopefully they will be. As I've stated before, since you know everything about this case and probably every other criminal case maybe we should disburse with holding trials with 12 jurors and just send the perpetrator to you and you can either hang them or let them go. It would be far cheaper to the taxpayers to not bother with something as arcane as a trial conducted with rules and procedures. Finally, contrary to both of your opinions, liberals and other people believe in facts and real "evidence". Both of you seem to believe that you are judge and jury and proof be damned.
