Revere rides over Twins in 3-2 Phillies win

  • Article by: Phil Miller , Star Tribune

The former Minnesota outfielder was a game-long offensive force, using his bat (four hits) and speed in the leadoff spot to vex the Twins.

Three hits!

Wow, 3 hits and they should have won the game. Twins has the 4th best bullpen in the league. But Gardy not messed up on the usage of the bullpen again. Burton has given up 7 hits and 6 earned runs in the last 2 2/3 innings. He had given up 4 hits and 4 earned runs before tonight's game. He now has 2 blown saves in his last 3 outings. Bring in Thielbar (0.00 ERA) in the 8th and then Perkins to close out the game. Use Burton in non-save situation to get his confidence back.

By the way, in his last 11 appearances, Burton is 0-3 with a whopping 7.15 ERA for a reliever. This is someone Gardy depends on when it's a tight game...

Man, wouldn't be nice to have a lead off hitter. Wait.....

goldengoph3r: yeah, but just wait... I hear this Hicks kid is a lot better than Revere.....Sorry, but I got blown out of the water when I said that getting rid of Revere was the worst thing the twins could do... and they did it... The only goof he made was the dive for the missed catch. If he had pulled up, he would have limited the game to a tie. Otherwise, he destroyed the twins with his speed alone. But when this gets too depressing, remember, we have Hicks.

What? no Ballfour telling everyone that Clete Thomas deserves to be on the MVP ballot, and they are incomprehensibly ignorant when it comes to rating true talent and Gardo's all lefty lineup was pure genius.

And we traded this guy for what? Granted, Aaron Hicks will be good, but Ben would still look good in Twins gear.

Glad I have no plans to go to a Twins game this year.

How can you write about this game and not mention Burton's terrible performance? No quote from the guy or from Gardy? C'mon.
