Wolves take a long look at Zeller

Indiana big man Cody Zeller worked out alone for Timberwolves management for 75 minutes Wednesday, foregoing an earlier group session that featured four other centers and forwards at Target Center at the discretion of his agent.

No Zeller please! How about trade Dwill and the #26 pick for the Number #4 and end up with Len and KCP! (ok so that would never happen...) I'm big on KCP at the #9...he will help team the most (and resign Pek!)

I think Zeller is going to be overseas after all is said and done.

If available I like CJ McCollum at #9.

Just want to say your Poll question/Answer is silly. I would vote no. But because we are stacked at PF it would make as much sense to draft a PF as it would a PG. We need a SG/SF that can score AND defend.

Zeller as a PF in the NBA will not work. Sure, he could be a spot player at that position, but asking him to play 15+ minutes would subject him to nightly abuse that Mbakwe delivery to him in that meeting.

Zeller only seemed to have standout games against smaller, inferior competition. He's not going to get much of that in the NBA so I really hope the Wolves go a different route.

The Wolves get beat by the other team's bigs. Pek and Love are not big time as 4 and 5 spot defensive duos and as a result the Wolves can only win by outscoring their foes rather than with good basket defense, the way Earvin Johnson and Garnett did when the Wolves had their best team. The fans may not like the truth that Pek and Love will never be big winners when playing together unless they both are able to move back a spot with Love at the 3 spot and Pek as a big power forward. The Wolves need a better defensive center that can play half the game and defend the basket like Jordan or Ibaka. Their off guards Barea and Ridnour would score 30 in any college game so don't assume the college off guards would make a major difference to the Wolves. The only guard worth drafting would be Burke even though the Wolves have Rubio, who does not play well all the time. You are better off drafting the best player available than drafting for need.

Against Syracuse in the tournament Zeller looked like Little Boy Fauntleroy vs. Aliens. The long, athletic Orangemen dominated the frontline. That's where the scouts knew Zeller might have a problem. He's got range for a big man, can put it on the floor but as a true big man or defensive anchor in the NBA I don't think so.

I see Trey Burke as more of a point guard which the Wolves do not need. They have Rubio and whomever they choose to be his back up Barea or Ridnour. CJ is more of a combo guard whom can play both positions and of course the Wolves are in need at the SG position.I also believe that CJ is a player whom could help this team immediately.
