I hope people who know nothing about the recovery process do not mistakenly think that Hazelden is in place of the 12 step program. Treatment helps people sober up and learn some facts about their using and addiction, but the real recovery process comes when people leave treatment and have a support system. Recovery and the twelve step program is a bridge back to life and treatment programs are an initial step in that direction. Treatment are for those who need help with initially putting the drug and the drink down.

For gemie1- Great comment, thankfully Hazelden knows well the role of 12 Step recovery and teaches that role to its patients and guests. Have a grateful day!
