St. Paul's Civil War memorial will see the light

Descendants of two Minnesota Civil War soldiers are donating lights to illuminate the 110-year-old monument.

I've always wondered something about this memorial: Col. Josias R. King stands atop his 55-foot pedestal and looks to the south-east. What is he looking at? Gettysburg? Washington D. C?

How many commanders today would have the guts to order men to their certain death so time MIGHT be gained to mount a defense.
