Why do we continue to expose young prospects to the waiver wire, when Drew Butera and his $750,000 salary is still on the 40 man?

CF Thomas who hit .143 last year for the Twins instead of Arcia. We may assume the Twins believe CF Hicks needed a wake up call. Hermann has looked good and Doumit has started hitting to take the clean up spot in the order away from Morneau and Mauer and the Twins may be tired of letting Mauer get banged up at catcher. Morneau and his two homeruns may be traded for prospects and/or a leadoff hitter so Mauer can play 1st base and the Twins can further lower team salary allowing a serious pitcher signing.
