Alexander: Ditch the spam label by breaking up a big e-mail list

Q: I periodically send an e-mail to my several hundred small-business customers. But as my customer mailing list has grown, I’ve found that my outgoing e-mails have been blocked for 24 hours by either AT&T or Yahoo for “abuse.” I’ve wasted hours trying to resolve this with AT&T and Yahoo to no avail. I broke my distribution list into smaller groupings, but I’m still getting blocked. I’ve been told to use Gmail or some other e-mail service, but I hate to change my e-mail address. Any suggestions?

An email service such as Constant Contact (or other solid competitors) can solve the spam problems. Plus better manage your mailing list.

Most free email providers like Yahoo, ISPs, and even web hosting companies limit the amount of emails that can be sent daily or hourly. If the person in question needs to send bulk emails, they might want to consider either getting a professional web host that allows bulk emails to be sent (good luck) or pay for a bulk mailing service as a previous commenter has mentioned. MailChimp is one that is popular. It's a shame that it costs money to communicate in bulk with customers. But email providers are continuing to clamp down on spam and limiting the number of emails one can send is one of their methods for doing that.
