I like Doumit, but he is a defensive liability in the outfield. He had a chance to make two great plays at the wall, but instead ran slowly and stopped without even trying to catch those two balls at the wall. A competant, speedy outfielder would have at least tried to make those plays. Parmelee makes those plays. And that catch he failed to make in extra innings, sliding with his arm out to the side instead of diving with his arm outstretched, was another missed opportunity. It's the same when Gardy sticks him in left. He is another Delmon Young in the field, and costs the team runs. He should catch or DH, and that's it. Other than that, we're fortunate to finally run into another team that's as hapless as us. It's like playing a mirror image of ourselves. Bring on more bottom feeders! Go Twinkies!

Manolive: You are right. I was stunned when after using Escobar as a batter, he wasn't inserted into the outfield for defensive purposes in the bottom of the inning. I was thinking left for Willingham, but right for Doumit would have also made sense.

Not to be picky but is a 4-0 score really a BIG lead ?

Loved Carlos Gomez doffing his helmet with a smile to Hicks when he made the incredible catch stealing a home run from Gomez.

Manolive...did you compare Parmalee to a speedy outfielder?

Any time you get a win at the other teams ballpark it's a good thing. Milwaukee has some good players too. See if we can double up on them the next two games. Going forward if the Twins don't get more starting pitching and a good lead off guy we will contend for last place similar to the last two years.

edutchboy, Parmelee may not be a burner, but he makes any catch he gets his glove on, and will not be afraid to attempt a spectacular catch. Doumit prefers to play the ball off the wall, rather than attempt to catch it. He should at least try to make the play, knowing Hicks is there to back him up. Instead, he will just stop and wait for the carom, instead of leaping to make a catch against the wall. We need his bat in the lineup, but his defensive liabilities has cost the team runs. He is not an outfielder, he is a catcher.

Never thought I'd say this, but I missed Bert on this road trip. That's not so much a compliment to Bert as it is a burn on Smalley. He shouldn't be in a broadcast booth.

They went 3-6 on a 9-game road trip, not very good, only the Minnesota media tries to spin that mediocrity into positivity by saying they have won 3 of their last 4. Truth is the Twins are not a very good team, they just happened to beat a team that is worse then them, which they should be doing. Until they can prove to beat the top teams on a consistent basis, the Twins are no better than a .500 team at best. They simply do not have any starting pitching.

But winning to a bad team is still better than losing to a bad team. :) And I love Gomez smiling while tipping his helmet.
