Legislature rejects Maple Grove's request for funding to support gravel mining land redevelopment

The Legislature rejected Maple Grove’s request to use extra taxes to help fund redevelopment of gravel mines and pits. That will delay plans for at least another year.

So, let me get this straight. The companies that had this land took all the gravel that was available from the land and left it in its current state, reaping huge profits. Now that they cannot extract anything else, they sell the property to the city, and the city wants the citizens to pay to redevelop it? Let the companies who owned the land (or leased it) pay for all at least a part of it. Tiller Corp. says it is "Committed to the environment". I don't see how they are. They buy land, mine all they can from it, then sell it to others who have to "redevelop" it. They are interested in profit, nothing else.
