Our esteemed commander in chief was obviously too busy battling the AP and the Tea party to pay any attention to any real threats.

I have above average computer science knowledge without being professional and I just can't comprehend how the military would let this happen. It's as if you put your valuables out on a tray to be taken. I also can't comprehend how our government could empty the treasury in Iraq/Afghanistan when we've got a massive economic war on with the Chinese, that we are losing. China wants Taiwan back and is preparing the needed strength to do just that. In all else they don't need war, they own us and we do is go shopping.

@mno0624 : The report does not state the timeframe I which these events took place. Regardless, defenses should have been established well before Obama took office. And they should constantly be bolstered, as in throughout the current administration. IOW, this problem belongs to both sides of the aisle.

What I find most troubling is that this top secret data was kept on computers that could be accessed easily. Had our military and political leaders done their homework they'd have been better prepared. Computers with this type of info should never be connected to the Internet or electric grid -- it's open source knowledge that both put security at risk.

China will soon overtake the US as the world's largest economy and largest manufacturer. While the US Military is designed to fight last centuries wars, the Chinese are working to fight this centuries cyber wars. Communism. Fails every time.

I'll bet some of the senior military leaders in charge of cyber security are probably grandparents, too. Enough said.

I'd like to know which idiot decided that the military command and control should be on an internet that can be accessed by others, military or civilian!

This should come as no surprise. The engineers employed to write the encrypted software have probably been outsourced to India. The Chinese are more likely to hack the Indians than the US. As long as the US companies who do the outsourcing can save a nickle on evil labor, all's well.

Who's at fault? Who's to blame? The right? The left? How about the Chinese? My goodness can we put politics aside ever in this country?!?!

China is and always will be our enemy...The second they have the upper hand and know it, we're screwed...How do you not have classified info on a closed circuit only accessible to those with clearance? Keep sensitive info OFF LINE!
