Jerry needs to start winning Big Ten games this year. If the 2-wins-per-year trend continues, he won't have to worry about his "young" team after this year. Norwood should start worrying about getting "young" fans in the stands at TCF. Of the 8 people I know who attend Gopher Football games, 3 have recently moved into assisted living care centers.

Guth... I agree. Kill has had his time to put "his stamp" on this team. If they don't start competing for the upper tier ( not a championship" in the Big Ten this year, they won't under Jerry Kill. It should take 3 years to turn a program around if you're a coach.... it should take 3 years to turn a company around if you're a ceo etc etc. If Kill doesn't start moving the Gophers North in the standings THIS YEAR, it'll never happen under his watch. It'll be more of what we've seen for many, many years. AND.... I might add, MN is the ONLY DIV 1 SCHOOL IN THE STATE.

Paddy...how do you figure 3 years? Jerry's recruits are all Freshman, redshirt Freshman, Sophomores, redshirt Sophs and a few true juniors THIS year. Year 4 is when you should really see an upgrade. This year will be important but not a judgement year or even close to a turn-around requirement. Do you understand that most big ten players play while being a redshirt Junior or Senior? Ferentz @ Iowa...1-10, 3-9, 7-5 first 3 years...with a 4-8 record last year. Ha.

hannyumn, ask anyone that's been a coach, a ceo, a territorial salesman, a manager..... you start to see their impact in the 3rd year. if they inherit a great company / territory it takes 3 years before they start to see it really go south...same with a team. Conversely , it takes 3 years to START seeing a program turn around. Not thinking about any titles ... just a move to the North in the BIG standings. You unfortunately have been drinking the cool aid and continue to accept the mediocrity that has defined MN for 50 years. That's why Tubby got fired .

Sid, please give coach Kill a month off at the Sports Huddle. The same couple of questions every week are getting very old. Other than the same Gopher's news, great article as always.

The Gophers won't play North Carolina , North Dakota State, or anyone likely to beat them. They are a poor excuse for a Big 10 team.

LagunaGuy - I guess scheduling TCU blows that whole theory out of the water. Yea, fire a coach who is playing a sophmore quarterback this year and mostly a freshmen-sophmore team this year. Im sure schools in Texas are waiting to sign Minnesota's coaches.
