Boosters make a difference in titles

With the aid of significant donors, four large suburban schools — Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka and Wayzata — continue to increase their dominance at the state level. The four schools won 23 percent of all large-school state titles from 2002-03 through 2006-07 and 35 percent in a five-year span starting in 2007-08. This year the four schools already have won 11 state team championships out of a possible 19 large-school athletic titles. This year’s haul: Eden Prairie Football Boys’ Nordic skiing Boys’ swimming Edina Boys’ hockey Girls’ tennis Girls’ swimming Wayzata Girls’ soccer Girls’ cross country Girls’ Nordic skiing Minnetonka Girls’ hockey Girls’ Alpine skiing

You can add the following for the Spring sports (6 of 10):: Eden Prairie: Boys' Golf, Boys' Lacrosse; Edina: Girls' Golf; Minnetonka: Girls' Track & Field; Wayzata: Synchronized Swimming, Boys' Tennis.
