Minneapolis residents to vote on simplified charter in November

Residents will vote in November on a simplified and modernized city charter that, among other things, replaces “doth” with “do.”

“We don’t think it makes for a good democracy when the average person can’t read and understand their governing document,” ............Maybe that was why the stadium funding limit was tossed out. The people insisted on paying more than 10 million. (sarcasm)

I urge a NO vote on the "charter simplification." This is unnecessary and is only making changes for the sake of making changes. There have been many court decisions over the years pertaining to the city charter. These decisions are based on the WORDS in the city charter. If these words are rewritten, all of those decisions will be subject to being litigated all over again.

Perhaps by making it more understandable, our city council members will understand things like...oh....how it was illegal to impose a tax on the citizens of Minneapolis to fund the Vikings Stadium without having the citizens vote on it first.
