Minnesota scene: High school coaches get a bit more job security

Sadly, there will be no Hoosiers movie made in Minnesota. We're too civilized (or too legislated) for that. Out politicians know best. Question: are coaches part of the teachers union? Ah, it's now becoming clearer......

As a high school coach I can tell you that this sentence will do little to nothing to "protect" coaches. It simply means school boards must say coaches are lacking in communication skills, practice planning, game strategy, etc. Coaches can and still will be dismissed. We all work on one year contracts. The union has nothing to do with this. I appreciate the effort by the legislature, but this as toothless as a legislation gets.

@dewarf: Really, have you ever been a high school, or any coach for that matter?? Parents often think that "Little Johnnie" or "Little Suzie" is God's gift to their sport, and when they feel their child has been slighted, march into the AD's office and demand the coach be fired....nothing to do with a coach being a member of the teachers' union..many high school coaches are not teachers....
