"Taking the Fifth" is the legal right of citizens not to be forced to incriminate oneself. Which of course assumes that the taker HAS information which would, if spoken or otherwise revealed under oath, connect them to a criminal act. It is tantamount to admitting guilt.

Interesting.. the WSJ analyzed some internal IRS emails released by the House Oversight Committee, which indicate the 'targeting' strategy originated and was limited to low-level staffers in Cincinnati. They also blow holes in the teapublican theory of political motivations.. 'When the screening group starts seeing new type cases that have similar issues, they meet and come up with criteria to identify 'emerging issue' and elevate information'. In other words.. they saw a flood of new apps with similar characteristics and then came up with a method to group them together for processing.

"There will be hell to pay if that's the route we choose to go down," Lynch said. " The AP called it a warning, I call it a threat that shows exactly how this committee is proceeding. It is a witchhunt.
