The Timberwolves will make the ninth pick in the 2013 NBA draft. Rodney Williams should be available.

It's unfathomable the stupidly and bad luck that has followed this franchise since its inception.

You're making a huge assumption that had the Wolves not made mistakes, they would have retained their same draft position from year to year. Once you make one switch in one draft, all subsequent drafts are a crapshoot since you no longer know what their record would have been.

Bobrek makes a great point. Very difficult to speculate how things would turn out if even one draft went well. But, that's also the point: how does a team continually misfire so many times. 2009 in my opinion was the worst: who on earth drafts *two* pure point guards back-to-back, neither one of whom could possibly play shooting guard? And it only got worse from there. And while Cleveland has now "won" the NBA draft lottery 4 times (amazing), the Wolves still have never moved up in the lottery (also amazing). This is truly a cursed franchise.

It's not luck. This is the most fixed thing in professional sports since the Chicago Black Sox. if it wasn't they would have no problem showing the drawing on television. The Timberwolves have never moved up in the draft under this format. It is very well known also that David Stern has a vendetta against the Wolves. HMMMM!!!! You tell me!

Of course draft success would have changed the history of Wolves draft picks but the situation is that their draft selection has been as bad as any in the league and Souhan along with the rest of us basketball fans are absolutely sick of it. At some point, knowledge has to intersect with luck for the Wolves, don't you think?

Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol, KLove...3 max type contracts all at once? It would be tough to have all 3 at once. Add in Cousins and you have a jammed front court. If we'd only kept Ray Allen, we'd never have been in position to draft all those other guys. The franchise is cursed because Taylor continuously hired the wrong people and kept them there. McHale should have been canned long before he actually was. Same with Kahn, and he was a bad hire in the first place. Who knows how long the clueless scouting dept was allowed to function. It's been tough being a Wolves fan all these years, but we hope things will finally turn around. A healthy Wolves squad would be a great start!

Still a good read, it just shows you how bad this organization is when it comes time to make a decision about basketball.

From the present moving forward I believe Flip will make better basketball decisions.A player not mentioned in this article that I wish the Wolves would have kept when drafted was Ray Allen......

The lottery is just as rigged as the regular season and playoffs. The NBA is just so contrived, it's painfully obvious. Easily the worst league out of the 4 major sports, with the NFL following it's lead.

kev5115May. 22, 13 9:25 AM

This lottery is the most idiotic in all of pro sports. Add to the fact the decision on the players that were picked or not picked and thats a huge reason why this floundering franchise never improves.
