Let's see if the Star Tribune removes this comment: I propose this: DO NOT buy electronic pulltabs. They are a bad deal. For people that are 'careful' gamblers, they are a no-no. They are for suckers and that is it. I also hope, as an occasional smoker that the new cigarette tax increase has the desired effect and greatly reduces smoking. That will have a two-fold benefit of reducing smoking and lowering the amount of state tax money to pay for a stadium. That is the ONLY way our elected officials will actually deal with the stadium funding issue. Otherwise the money comes out of the general fund, and EVERY SINGEL legislator said they would not do that. I see a bunch of liars.

When its charities are directly promoting gambling, a society has attained a certain kind of utter failure.

When its charities are directly promoting gambling, a society has attained a certain kind of utter failure. That failure is an exponentially worse failure when the gambling is intended to help very wealthy people become even more wealthy.

The previous comment pretty much nails it. When our elected officials enact policies that coerce charitable organizations to encourage their own customers to spend their limited dollars they have on gambling, something has gone horribly wrong. Research on this is clear: those who can least afford to spend money on gambling are the ones who typically will.

@michaelpatrick - To add to your point - when a Governor and other lawmakers choose to rely on addicts to fund palaces for the public's games it's hard to conceive of a lower depth to which they could sink.

Of course they are. They don't want the governor and legislature to target their profits next in a desperate attempt at funding this disaster.

How does one go about trying to get people to throw their money away on the electronic games?

Maybe they should tour the TC area, where more than 60% of the state's population reside. Also, a list of participating bars/restaurants would be helpful for those of us who would like to play to help the stadium fund but don't know were to go to do so.

It's amazing how the state continue's to kick a dead horse. I sense most people don't want to play these electronic games since they are boring, you have no idea on what is left to win and they are not practical for playing in groups over a beverage or two. Wake up, the idea is dead, let's bury it and move on and figure out something that will work!

This is funny and yet sad at the same time. Promote, promote what it will never work. Look out general fund.
