Minnesota cops beefing up seat-belt enforcement

More than four of 10 Minnesotans killed in traffic crashes failed to buckle their seat belts. And 84 percent of those unbelted deaths happened outside the seven-county metro area.

The nanny state on steroids here in MN. It is none of anybody's business if you or I decide to buckle up or not. This gives LE yet another excuse to pull over, harass and shake down motorists who aren't harming others.

40% of those killed weren't wearing seatbelts. Wouldn't it be more effective to concentrate on that other 60%?

Use of seatbelts should be a matter of choice. In MN, I can choose to wear nothing but flip-flops, shorts, and the required protective eyewear when I ride my Harley-Davidson but I am forced by law to use lapbelts and shoulder restraints when driving my full-sized 3/4 ton conversion van? What's next?
