"The measure bans 45 types of assault weapons and gun magazines will be limited to 10 bullets." Care to expand on that a little? Seems more important than the fingerprint licensing.

Unconstitutional at every step it seems. I'm surprised that people haven't gone colonial in other states like NY yet, maybe MD will be the ones who put the constitution back on the minds of party first individuals who dare attack them. Way to attack our country MD, you owe us now, all of us.

Terrible "reporting". Burying the main story at the end of the story in the hopes that nobody reads it. Shame on you AP and Star Trib. ~~~~~~~~ "The measure bans 45 types of assault weapons and gun magazines will be limited to 10 bullets." By limiting magazines to 10 bullets, they have just made most handguns illegal, as they do not even function with magazines that small.

"states with similar laws have substantially lower gun death rates than states that do not" Oh please, the FBI's very own stats don't bear that out in the least. And the Clinton weapons ban was an abject failure. Oh hey, maybe Maryland's governor was talking about the vaunted safety in Illinois, Chicago in particular.
