Downtown East? The Loop? Is Minneapolis hoping to become the next Chicago? Come on folks, you can walk from one end of downtown to the other in 10 minutes. Stop the silly copy-cat naming of downtown 'districts'. Minneapolis is a nice, clean, smaller city. Be happy with it and stop trying to make it something it isn't

All of this is quite dreamlike, just as entertaining as flipping through the Parade of Homes booklet and remarking how wonderful they all are. The difference is, though, that looking is not the same as buying. Absent from this piece is any mention of how this is to be paid for. I guess we're supposed to be so mesmerized by these plans that we should be too embarrassed to ask how that's to be done. Well, it's not working. Although Gov. Dayton and some legislators treat the financing as though it's just some trivial accounting fix which is barely worth discussing, promises were made to the public that no tax money would be used for its construction and it was approved on that underlying assumption. So, if that assumption was just a fiction then the only honest solution is to re-approve the entire project based on the new assumptions. Once that's done them we can all join in the marveling at this proposed structure and eagerly await its completion.

This is just a ploy with pretty colored pictures to distract everyone from the unfunded scandinavian staadiumm. Say it loud and proud vikes fans: No more tailgating, We want railgating! It is what fans are going to get. That along with $20 burgers and $10 cokes.

Wow look what we the taxpayer will be paying for. I for one would like to see a balanced budget. Minnesota land of 10000 taxes.

Just south of Washington Ave., Portland Ave. has an average daily traffic flow of 5,200 cars; Park Ave. has 6,500. If you cut off those major roads, where will all those cars go? (Also, won't this interfere with emergency vehicles going to and from HCMC?)

A few thoughts and rebuttals: 1. Read the news article for the project financials rather than the editorial. 2. If the commenter does not know the difference between Downtown East, North Loop, Elliot Park, Loring Park, and the Central Riverfront, I invite the individual for a visit. Schedule more than 10 minutes though. 3. The anti-stadium, anti-LRT folks cannot be pleased the sea of surface parking lots around the Metrodome are to be redeveloped because of the stadium AND the light rail.
