in other news, the good Bishop barred a wandering preacher from Galilea from hosting a dinner on church property as it has been reported that the wandering preacher is known to draw individuals from walks of life to his events and "we need to protect the sanctity of church property. The preacher in question is on record as saying we should love 'the least of our brothers', and the church must be sure that these so-called 'least' people conform to central church doctrine".
"yet another volley of dehumanizing spiritual violence directed at GLBT persons and their families under Archbishop [John] Neinstedt's reign of homophobic hatred."
Would you like some hyperbole with your hysteria?
Another reason I'm no longer a Catholic.
I have yet to understand why people stay in a place that openly and triumphantly proports to despise there lifestyle. What are these people doing participating in these organization?
add an 's' to organization...
that Jesus always said you should hate everyone who's not JUST like you.
I have yet to figure out what Scripture Neinstadt's going by; I haven't seen anything like what he says in the Gospels in years of searching.
The church should be able to decide what kind of service they want based on the makeup of the congregation. I wonder what the impetus was for the calling and emailing that Neinstedt says clued him into the planned service. Having attended that church, I can say that I doubt it was people from the congregation. They're very inclusive.
to celebrate one's God-given sexuality and/or gender is, to quote McGrath, "contrary to the teachings of our church - plain and simple".
in other news, the Bishop has banned an itinerant preacher from Galilea from hosting a supper on church property as his admonishment to love "the least of your brothers" may be contrary to church teaching.
that Jesus taught you should hate anyone who's not JUST like you.
Honestly, I have no idea where in Scripture Neinstadt (et al) get that attitude. Never in all the years I've been reading the Gospels have I seen any indication that Jesus said we should hate and exclude gays (or anyone else, for that matter).
The usual smug, infantile and morally condescending garbage from the Catholic church, which apparently is incapable of moral maturation of any kind.
