I'm a former board member of PFLAG and I'm quite familiar with the issues transgendered people face. That medical professionals would do something so stupid and irreversible as late as 2004, when we already KNEW to not do this, is unbelievable. THe professionals involved in that decision need to be called to the carpet. 1974, I could almost understand it (as that's around the time a doctor botched a circumcision, and just decided to lop the rest off and turn the infant into a girl, which did not bode well for that child -- who definitely was MALE). But 2004?
I'd even go so far as to look into revoking their licenses to practice medicine. What they did was barbaric.
