This whole thing was a red herring from the start. All it did was create another pot of free money for the politicians to drool over at our expense.

When they build the Vikes stadium in Bemidji, I think it's appropriate to restore hunting habitat in Metro.

So the metro park proposals were unworthy? Hey Mr Hartwell why don't you explain why the Lasserd Council's giving the Blandin paper company $40 million dollars for a environental easement was a good thing. Please don't leave out the fact that Blandin retained all logging and mineral rights on the land, that Blandin proceeded to go to tax court to lower the value of the "easement" thereby reducing the amount of property taxes paid to the county neede for services and promptly sent the 40 million to their parent company in FINNLAND. This is why elected legislators need to make these decisions.

jstwondering: Where in the world did you get your facts. It sure is funny how all of these "facts and figures get thrown around with no verification provided. Maybe you are right but I don't think so. One of the biggest benefactors in northern MN is Blandin paper. I know it is now foreign owned but they have continued to provide many dollars to many people and students in northern MN. Please provide some verification for your "facts and figures.

"facts and figures" should both have been enclosed in quotes. Sorry about that.

I guess an alternate question is what percentage of highway funds are spent in the Metro vs. outstate?

When they build the Vikes stadium in Bemidji, I think it's appropriate to restore hunting habitat in Metro. You can't argue with that statement can you? It looks as if over 10% of the legacy money has been spent in the metro area already.

A few months ago I received an e-mail concerning legacy funds that were not used for the purpose intended. This concerns me more than funds not allocated in the metro area. ARe outstate recipients mis=using the funds they receive? Who are the watchdogs and how are their reports being responded to?

bigdukesix "I guess an alternate question is what percentage of highway funds are spent in the Metro vs. outstate?" Considering the fact that there are Township, County, State and US Highways, what percentage of state highways are in outstate MN?
