The notions of these plans sound wonderful! As I've walked past the blight of surface parking lots along Portland Avenue for the past 4 years during my daily commute to my bus, I've dreamed about what could be. The Armory is a glorious structure - built like a tank (sorry, not trying to be funny), and full of potential. The prospect of much needed green space, which unfortunately, is a major weakness of downtown Minneapolis also sounds encouraging. I hope that a park like environment would be close enough to the core of downtown to draw office workers to enjoy it. All good ideas. I hope the political will and funding are available to help make this dream come true. I can't wait to see the plans!

This area never developed despite the fact that the Twins, Vikings and Gophers played all their games there. The development is proposed because the StarTribune owns the property and the StarTribune branded the Linden Avenue site the "Basilica Site" in a successful effort to move the new stadium near their own land, increasing its value and away from the downtown entertainment district.

What time on Tuesday will the announcement be made? Will the event be outside the main entrance on Portland Ave?
