Rev. Paul Rogers, you cannot pick and choose your theological positions based upon secularist, immoral, cultural opinion. Either you trust the scriptures and follow them or you dont. This a very simple concept. "...a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). Isn't it interesting that neither two guys nor two ladies are to be one flesh? Hmm? Oh that's right > God is only needed and convenient when we get in trouble and then he's put away until the next crisis. GOD BLESS AMERICA! If I was GOD why would I want to bless anything, especially MN?

So when polygamous couples/groups start asking for their relationships to be called "civil unions" that should be granted too, right? Or maybe cousins? How about siblings? Where does the redefining end? Marriage is not just a religious idea. It's actually pre-religious. And it's also pre-political. One doesn't have to use one's imagination that much to understand why only 1 man and 1 woman marriages are so important to societies: Because they are the only relationships which provide any possibility of children being born and guarantees that these children will stay connected to their own mother or father throughout life. The government recognizes marriage as being between one man and one woman for the sake of children, not simply so that the love of any two people can be declared out loud. You can still love homosexual couples and disagree with them. Believing the thousand+ year old belief that marriage is an institution that unites a man and a woman with each other and any children born from their union does not make one "intolerant", or a "bigot", or a "hater". It actually puts you in the reasonable majority of all those who across nations, across religions, and across time have believed marriage to be between 1 man and 1 woman. Don't let the name-calling or imposition of redefinitions by a loud few take away your courage to stand up for this plain and simple truth.

Already you seem to have changed what should be an equal right by adding the word CIVIL in front of MARRIAGE, so YOU can accept same sex marriage. When can I vote on changing YOUR straight marriage to be called Straight Civil Union Marriage. When will We The People have Equal Rights that are not subject to any religious pressure.

Of course the agenda will be forced down into the schools. To think otherwise is simply not understanding the agenda.

It's all about monitary gain and recognition? I feel sorry for that relationship. Also many people sin and don't follow scripture to a T but that doesn't make it right to keep doing it. Those that say they follow scripture but vote yes are saying that scripture doesn't need to be followed

If a concern is that this mysterious 'it' will be forced down to schools (@Mom2Four), why not get involved as anti-evolutionists and anti-sex ed groups have and petition for alternative classes that won't teach the content to which you object?

@callmestupid, it's about the same rights for straight and gay couples. Rights that you and I take for credit way too often. If you've ever had a sick spouse in the emergency room or ICU you might understand. There are many more rights and benefits us straight people get once we're married that gays and lesbians cannot as it stands right now. Apparently you're fine with that.
