University of Minnesota considers new Fairview agreement

A deal that university regents will consider Friday would include $90 million toward the medical school’s mission over 10 years.

This is good news. Now the Regents and Mr Kaler should get back to their top priority which should be looking for ways to reduce tuition to middle class Minnesota kids without a state handout.

There is no mention of any part of the Fairview contribution being used to provide financial relief to the medical school students in the form of a reduction in tuition.

Fairview needs to get out of the U on M.

While this sounds like a lot, before the merger 16 years ago the U was getting 20M a year from the hospital in terms of medical school support, so this is a drop in the bucket.
