Vikings, University of Minnesota near agreement on TCF Bank Stadium lease

The Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota have reached a tentative agreement that will allow the NFL team to play at TCF Bank Stadium in 2014 and 2015 while its new downtown Minneapolis venue is built.

They should have agreed on building just one stadium 10 years ago. Would have saved the taxpayers a lot of money (200 m to TCF, 400mm Vikes).

The U of M is the only government entity that will get revenues from this deal. The U is tacitly approving a rip-off of the taxpayers of this state by giving the Vikings an alternative venue. Not surprising, since these geniuses had to pay a $3 million plus fee to lose a losing coach. Where is the oversight here for "sports gone wild"?

Why can't we just put 100M into improving TCF field and making the arrangement permanent? I don't understand why we need another football stadium when we have a state of the art one in Minneapolis already.
