Back in the days of the Soviet Union, the government owned and operated most of the enterprises in the economy. Most prices were set by central planners, rather than by supply and demand, and the success or failure of Soviet enterprises was judged primarily by how well they met the numerical targets for production, which were set by the central planners. How did that work out for them? Artificially and arbitrarily setting the cost of labor will do two things...it will result in a reduction of demand (less people hired in low wag positions) and upsets the efficient allocation of resources to where they are needed, resulting in lower quality and productivity.

One word: No. This bill is a reason to increase welfare payments and government salaries and will end up costing the taxpayers far more than it's worth. It's the old "Buy Votes" scheme on steroids and it's time to stop it.

What is the real cost per hour? Start with wages add payroll taxes, health care, holidays, vacation, and don't forget the income taxes a business pays. WHAT is the revenue needed per hour to pay an hour of labor?????

Servers in TX make $2.15 an hour and after tips average over $20.00 an hour. Servers do not need a $9.60 minimum wage or they do not need a 15% tip. Time to quit tipping.

Big whoop. Waiters in Minnesota make $100,000 per year according to Tom Emmer(R).

The increase in the minimum wage will not offset the decrease in wage due to the taxes they are proposing. I love how they vote to give themselves a raise while giving ALL of us a pay decrease by stealing our money in "taxes"
